Following his divide and conquer strategy that has worked successfully with district vs charter parents, Bloomberg decided to continue his proven method by attempting to pit firefighters and policeman against teachers by lying to the public stating they receive an annual Christmas bonus of $12,000 for nothing AND that money could go towards preventing teacher layoffs.

This is another BIG FAT LIE of Bloomberg’s.  Just like the lowering of the racial achievement gap, graduation rates and charters outperforming district schools.

The $12,000 was agreed upon because in the 1970′s the firefighters, policemen, teachers AND other labor unions SAVED NYC from bankruptcy.  Yes, Bloomberg, LABOR saved NYC!

Kudos to the policeman and firefighters unions for calling Bloomberg a LIAR.

What do you think about Bloomberg’s latest despicable, expected lies?  Do you think all labor unions will now finally come together and fight to save our city, our schools and our jobs?

  2. Good for the police and fire union presidents for calling out Bloomturd. Wish our union prez would do the same. It’s disgusting, the way he is trying to pin it on them- “well, we could have avoided layoffs, but the police and fire retirees wouldn’t give up their $12k.”

    He is a jackhole.

And FYI, intersesting but not surprising, this site is blocked on DOE computers, or at least it is in my school.

    • I dunno, seems like the PBA has always backed their people waaaay more effectively and passionately than any UFT “leader” ever did. Let’s see if Mul is ready to go to the mat!

  3. Can any other folks working/learning on DOE computers confirm this alleged censorship of the site?

  4. Ahhh… Bloomie employs the tried and true tactics of divide-and-conquer and of using a smoke screen to hide the misdoings and mismanagement of his office. I try to be optimistic that the police, firefighters, and teachers will not fall for the okey doke and that perhaps our brothers and sisters in Egypt can be a shining example of the “power of the people”. Can the municipal unions coalesce and fight as ONE? Let’s hope the unions and the rank and file in NYC are as fearless and as dedicated as the victors of Tahrir Square.

  5. It was always clear that the divide-and-conquer strategy that tries to convince the public that if the $12,000 variable supplement is taken from firefighters and cops, that it will automatically go toward preventing teacher layoffs. It’s not even about BloomBlack trying to pit unions aginst one another – it’s about using little soundbytes that are convincing to the average person listening to the radio or watching TV – most people don’t really pay attenton to the news when they’re running around in the morning trying to get out the door to work, so what they remember is that “$12,000 that a retired firefighter gets could go toward keeping a teacher.” Bloomberg has always used disgusting tactics like this. I’ve never voted for him – he offended me even back in the beginning. And now that he bought his third term, I hope every New Yorker remembers how he opposed Giuliani’s attempt to do the very same thing. Bloomberg clearly believes he is above the law and that whatever he says will be taken as gospel truth. It’s offensive.

  6. We need to rise up like the Egyptians or the French during the revolution and fight back. Bloomberg thinks he’s untouchable, but he’s not. What he is, is out of touch.

  7. Bloomberg knows what he is doing, the question should be what are you gonna do about it.if people stay on the couch we lose.
